Tonica Kombucha Donates to Give Well in Honour of #InternationalWomensDay2021
Tonica Kombucha, Canada’s first kombucha company, announced yesterday that it has made a substantial donation to the Give Well organization in honour of #InternationalWomensDay2021
Givewell is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding outstanding giving opportunities and publishing in-depth research aiming to determine how much good a given program accomplishes (in terms of lives saved, lives improved, etc.) per dollar spent.
Zoey Shamai, Tonica’s Founder and President, said, “When the pandemic started in 2020, I was inspired by Sam Harris’s podcast and high praise for Givewell as an organization which recommends a small number of charities that do an incredible amount of good, namely those that have an extremely high impact per dollar-donated ratio. Tonica’s donation is being put to use to support several charities for populations in dire need.
Tonica’s donation will be used to support charities assisting children, women and men in the most under-served populations in the world including:
- Against Malaria Foundation
- Helen Keller International's vitamin A supplementation program
- Evidence Action's Deworm the World Initiative
- New Incentives, which in Nigeria is known as All Babies Are Equal (ABAE)
“I founded Tonica Kombucha to share well-being with everyone and the ever growing success of this company is thanks to the support of our customers and retailers across Canada who have embraced our kombucha with such enthusiasm and support”, said Zoey.
“At this critical time, we consider it our responsibility to give back. Our donation to Give Well Organization will go to charities that are doing substantial work to better the health & well-being of people everywhere.”
Keep following us in 2021 to find out how you can help Tonica reach even more communities together.
